adopted aggressive lhaso apso

I adopted a dog from a shelter wo was biting, but the shelter didnt tell me. anyway she was afraid of everyone and would lunge. i hired trainers who gave up on her. I got clamped down on abou 2x a week, not everytime i reached for her, sometimes
one day i had her in a stroller, which i know was a big mistake now, i wanted to take her with me. Everything was fine putting her in the stroller, but comming out she did not want to be touched. She nipped me ,so i backed off. i was still holding the leash and thinking. she sudenenly lunged up and bit me with her canine, and clamped 2 0r 3 times. about 5 bites all together.
I was hysterical and couldn't take any more pain, and know i couldnt trust her, because i wasnt reaching for her. my question is , did my fear cause this, or was she triggered by a memory. I can't stop blaming myself.

Nothing In Life Is Free
by: Adam G. Katz

Employ the "Nothing In Life Is Free" approach, so that your dog starts to view you as the "pack leader." If your dog doesn't see you as the leader, then your corrections will be meaningless. So, if you're doing subtle things (inadvertently) to undermine your leadership role around the house-- it will be counter-productive.
