Aggressive American Bulldog

Our 8 month AB shows serious signs of aggression towards anyone not in our family. I have 4 children and he is wonderful with all of us, but not with anyone else! We have been trying to take him to the fields with our kids. He is on edge the entire time...often growling and barking. We are just trying to get him out to see people, but he seems so nervous/curious. We absolutely adore him and want so bad to change him. I don't need him to be friendly and playful. I just need to know that if I have people in the house he isn't going to bite/hurt them. Same if he got loose....So sad. Want to rectify!! We have a female AB that is great with people.

Employ the "Nothing In Life Is Free" approach, so that your dog starts to view you as the "pack leader." If your dog doesn't see you as the leader, then your corrections will be meaningless. So, if you're doing subtle things (inadvertently) to undermine your leadership role around the house-- it will be counter-productive.
