aggressive chihuahua terrier mix

I have a 12year old boy lab./mix who is spaded and a 8 yr old boy Chihuahua terrier mix not spaded dogs. the Chihuahua always attacks the lab. several times a day causing the lab. to bleed,
they both have the run of a backyard which is fenced in. but as soon as the Chihuahua see's any of us petting the lab. or the lab just be walking he sneeks attack the lab. the lab fight back but he's always blind sidedThe Chihuahua also has bitten my wife, drawing blood from my wife (had to get tetanus shot ) as she tries to get the Chihuahua off the lab, who he has pined down the lab and is now going for blood from the lab as he bites what he can sink his teeth into and start swinging his head from side to side tring to rip what his teeth is holding. wifes frustrated, want to give up dog.need advice

Employ the "Nothing In Life Is Free" approach, so that your dog starts to view you as the "pack leader." If your dog doesn't see you as the leader, then your corrections will be meaningless. So, if you're doing subtle things (inadvertently) to undermine your leadership role around the house-- it will be counter-productive.
