Aggressive husky/malamute

My puppy is 8 months now, we can't get him to stop mouthing. Now he is very possessive with his toys and bones. He snapped and growled at me when I came near his cage because he had a bone. He also snapped and growled at me when I needed to take a paper towel out of his mouth. What can I do to stop this behavior.

Nothing In Life Is Free

Employ the "Nothing In Life Is Free" approach, so that your dog starts to view you as the "pack leader." If your dog doesn't see you as the leader, then your corrections will be meaningless. So, if you're doing subtle things (inadvertently) to undermine your leadership role around the house-- it will be counter-productive.
