Aggressive PitBull mix (i think jack rusell)

I got Penny when she was about 4 months old. I got her from someone that could no longer keep her due to their rental agreement. I live with my boyfriend and his 2 older dogs. I got her fixed after having her about a month.

She has recently started attacking my boyfriend. Her pupils will dilate and she lunges for him and then growls/barks after she jumps. I have a hard time restraining her. She is very protective over me. The boyfriend is physically abusive at times toward me, and has toward her too.

I don't know why this has started or what to do.

Nothing In Life Is Free
by: Adam G. Katz

Employ the "Nothing In Life Is Free" approach, so that your dog starts to view you as the "pack leader." If your dog doesn't see you as the leader, then your corrections will be meaningless. So, if you're doing subtle things (inadvertently) to undermine your leadership role around the house-- it will be counter-productive.
