Aggressive red nose

My pit is almost 4 years old, she is a rescue and was a bait dog. I rescued her at 4 months and she was terrified of other dogs. I brought her home and she met my teddy bear who has always been sweet and friendly towards her and she rolled over on her back and urinated on herself. It took her a couple days before she stopped rolling over every time he came near her. Once she realized he wasn’t going to hurt her she warmed up to him and they became very close. Fast forward to about 2 years and 8 months old and after all that time together she just snapped at him and growled unprovoked as far as I could tell. I thought perhaps because we had just moved to a new house perhaps she was nervous and that led to the incident. We have been in the house for 2 years now and she has occasionally snapped at him since then but in the past month has bit him twice hard enough to draw blood. What can I do to stop this behavior?

Nothing In Life Is Free
by: Adam G. Katz

Employ the "Nothing In Life Is Free" approach, so that your dog starts to view you as the "pack leader." If your dog doesn't see you as the leader, then your corrections will be meaningless. So, if you're doing subtle things (inadvertently) to undermine your leadership role around the house-- it will be counter-productive.
