aggressive shitzu pug mix

We got 2yr old Tom 2 weeks ago from a shelter he was calm and gentle at first but now he has turned against my 11 yr old son, I know I have made a mistake and let him on my bed which made him territortal in my room he has just got very aggressive toward my son when he walked into my room and really frightened my son he then cowered in my room.I immediately removed Tom and put him in kitchen to see to my son.I hope I can fix problem or I will have to take Tom back can you help.

Employ the "Nothing In Life Is Free" approach, so that your dog starts to view you as the "pack leader." If your dog doesn't see you as the leader, then your corrections will be meaningless. So, if you're doing subtle things (inadvertently) to undermine your leadership role around the house-- it will be counter-productive.
