Aggressive Stafforshire Bull Terrier

by Steve R.

Up until now I have always prided myself in my training methods. I socialised him from as early as possible, I have paid special attention to his feeding regime during development, he is regularly exercised and is respectful of his place in our household social status ladder. This led to having a well behaved gentle dog who I could trust. Then he was attacked twice by another Staffie whose owner was the typical irresponsible owner. This changed his aggressiveness, but was only directly towards this one particular dog. Now I have a 15 month old dam who is due to be neutered in February. His aggression levels have gone through the roof. Can anyone help or is it the obvious problem?

Nothing In Life Is Free
by: Adam G. Katz

Employ the "Nothing In Life Is Free" approach, so that your dog starts to view you as the "pack leader." If your dog doesn't see you as the leader, then your corrections will be meaningless. So, if you're doing subtle things (inadvertently) to undermine your leadership role around the house-- it will be counter-productive.
