aggressive terrier mix

We have had piglet for 7 years now. he was abandonded at a campground where we caught him. we are not able to walk him because we cannot get a leash on him. we have been bitten by him a couple of times, but he has gotten so much better. the vet said he was probably abused from his previous owner. we now have a beagle mix we got from a tennant that could not take care of her anymore. she has been with us 2 days now. piglet the rat terrier wants little to do with her. how do we fix this. we would love to keep them both. he was fine with our two chows, but they passed and he has been alone for 3 years. is he a dog that just needs to be alone.he gets along fine with our cats as well.

Nothing In Life Is Free
by: Adam G. Katz

Employ the "Nothing In Life Is Free" approach, so that your dog starts to view you as the "pack leader." If your dog doesn't see you as the leader, then your corrections will be meaningless. So, if you're doing subtle things (inadvertently) to undermine your leadership role around the house-- it will be counter-productive.
