Agressive Pitbull

My son bought a female Pit Bull, 9 weeks old. She is not 2 years old and has always manifested aggression towards other dogs. She has bitten several times, once during my walk she managed to release herself from the leash and bit another dog. She also bit my other son's dog which is a male Pit Bull. She barks at the neighbors dog and does not obey commands when she is in this zone of barking, she does not stop until the dogs go inside their home. She has tried to dig in the dirt and pulled the fence to get at these dogs. She has a shock collar on and that does not seem to work. She has bitten me 3 times, this last time she sent me to the hospital and I had to get 32 stitches. I don't think putting her in a shelter would work or if they would take her. Do I have to get her euthanized?

I think this aggression all stems from her being separated from the 2 dogs in the house for their own protection from her. She is mad and frustrated.

Please help.

I can be reached at 708-860-9248.

Thank you.

Alicia

Nothing In Life Is Free
by: Adam G. Katz

Employ the "Nothing In Life Is Free" approach, so that your dog starts to view you as the "pack leader." If your dog doesn't see you as the leader, then your corrections will be meaningless. So, if you're doing subtle things (inadvertently) to undermine your leadership role around the house-- it will be counter-productive.
