Black Lab / Border Collie

I have a 4 year old Basset and have a 10 month old Black Lab / Border Collie mix that I picked up from our local shelter at 8 weeks... he was already neutered as well as my basset.

up until the last couple of months they have always gotten along well even though the Lab loves to push the basset away from me so I'm only paying attention to him.
they eat and sleep together and as long as the basset stays away from his toys and food there weren't too many problems. As I said a couple of months ago the Lab has started to get very aggressive to the basset for no reason setting him off. he has now bitten thru my bassets ear 2 times and the basset will put his head down and cower from him not to be attacked no knowing what he has done to cause this outburst of anger. this is affecting his normal lovable self as well as starting to stay away from me so he won't get in a fight with the Lab.

don't know how to handle the Lab pup's aggression to him. could really use some feed back on this.

Nothing In Life Is Free

Nothing In Life Is Free

Employ the "Nothing In Life Is Free" approach, so that your dog starts to view you as the "pack leader." If your dog doesn't see you as the leader, then your corrections will be meaningless. So, if you're doing subtle things (inadvertently) to undermine your leadership role around the house-- it will be counter-productive.
