Chessie displaying aggressive behaviors

I have a 4 1/2 year old Cheasepeake Bay Retreiver. She is a loving dog, loyal companion and often smiles for her friends and family. However, she is home alone all day and barks at people passing outside. She viamently dislikes anyone walking on the sidewalk immediately in front of our house. It is becoming increasingly difficult for us to call her away from this and twice in the past 15 months when she is outside she she nipped a passerby. This second incident happened very recently so needless to say I am very concerned about this and want to correct the behavior.

Nothing In Life Is Free
by: Adam G. Katz

Employ the "Nothing In Life Is Free" approach, so that your dog starts to view you as the "pack leader." If your dog doesn't see you as the leader, then your corrections will be meaningless. So, if you're doing subtle things (inadvertently) to undermine your leadership role around the house-- it will be counter-productive.
