Collie cross German shepherd aggression

We need help!
My husband rescued a collie cross Earl now 7or8 when we met and 2 years later we rescued Bear 4or5 they have lived together for 3 years but now Bear is just lieing with me one minute the going for Earl accross the room.
The start of the week was the first major incident - Bear tore Earls ear after going for him. So Earl had an opp and now has a cone on.
Tonight Bear went for him again - both dogs were just laid down on separate sofas with us then Bear stared growling and looking at Earl out the corner of his eye then he snapped.
We are so worried as he is nick named baby bear and had the sweetest temperament but this time my husband got slightly bitten.
Please help.

Nothing In Life Is Free
by: Adam G. Katz

Employ the "Nothing In Life Is Free" approach, so that your dog starts to view you as the "pack leader." If your dog doesn't see you as the leader, then your corrections will be meaningless. So, if you're doing subtle things (inadvertently) to undermine your leadership role around the house-- it will be counter-productive.
