Kings Aggression

my bully is named KING...he is nearly 10 months old and he has always been pretty laid back in comparison to typical bully puppies or any breed really.
Just recently he has become real aggressive. And I mean REALLY AGGRESSIVE. Not towards myself or very select few, but everyone else he tries to attack. Ive never had to keep him on a chain or leash but now it is an absolute must otherwise he will hurt someone.
How do I get my old happy all the time dog back?
Why the sudden rage and aggressive behavior ?
Can you help? I love my king and it would be devastating to have to get rid of him or put him down.
also note that he has been pretty well socialized with other dogs as well as people

Employ the "Nothing In Life Is Free" approach, so that your dog starts to view you as the "pack leader." If your dog doesn't see you as the leader, then your corrections will be meaningless. So, if you're doing subtle things (inadvertently) to undermine your leadership role around the house-- it will be counter-productive.
