super friendly staff x recently turned aggressive

Hi we have had Stanley a 3/4 staff 1/4 lab for a year now (he is nearly 14 month old). He spent the first 6 months in and out of a cage due to a broken leg and his knee cartridge coming away during a jump from high up. So we started the interaction process quite late but we were very pleased how polite he seemed round other dogs. He had had lots of rough and tumble since with other dogs but the last 2 trips to the park have been awful. He has turned really aggressive, knocking dogs over, growling and going for the throat! Obviously the other dog owners are not happy and I struggle to get him back on the lead. I read on this site he may have had too much rough play at a young age. Is there anything I can do to get my friendly playful dog back? I'm nervous to take him out now. We have a toddler so haven't spent as much time training him as we should but our old staff cross wasn't interested in playing with other dogs so this is all new to me. He is amazing g with my son and loves all people and used to be great with other dogs. He hasn't been mistreated so don't know if this is fear related.
Thanks in advance
Kellie

Nothing In Life Is Free
by: Adam G. Katz

Employ the "Nothing In Life Is Free" approach, so that your dog starts to view you as the "pack leader." If your dog doesn't see you as the leader, then your corrections will be meaningless. So, if you're doing subtle things (inadvertently) to undermine your leadership role around the house-- it will be counter-productive.
